One of my stumbling blocks has been finishing the lawn after work. We only have 2 acres, but it normally took our 12hp AC about 5-6 hours from start tofinish. Mostly due to a large quantity of trees/fence and thick grass. Not having mowed since early spring (Drought), our 4100 hasn't had a shot at reducing the amount of time it takes. Which is partially my fault for forgetting to adjust/level the 4100's mower deck for our lawn. Ok, Ok... Yes I guess I was just lazy about it. Anyway, one of my goals is to have enough lighting to continue mowing even after the sun disappears. I have the front & rear set up well. But I'm lacking in the mid section. Meaning that I can see where I'm going forward or backward, but I also need to see the mower deck for trimming and such. I've tried to mount one of the JD's utility lights underneath, but find that no matter where I put it, it is either in the way of the deck, or the tires keep the light from luminating the outer parts of the deck. I also tried mounting the lights to the top of the ROPS, that's not a real good Idea! Anyone who has seen bugs around an outside light at night knows that having one's head in the middle of it all, really isn't an enjoyable experience.The 4100's alternator is only rated at 20 amps, therefore I'm a little limited in the quantity of lights the unit can safely sustain. I'm hoping someone here has an idea that will solve this problem. Thanks in advance :o)

Regarding adding lights to the side of your JD4100: While at two auto parts stores yesterday I noticed that there were several small but powerful driving lights for sale. Although these lights were designed as automobile driving lights or fog lights, they were only about an inch and a half in height and might be mounted beneath your footplates--just an idea if its helpful.Mike ....

How about a couple of push button switches (steering wheel mounted) to activate lights on each side of the ROPS? You would only turn a light on when you were looking over the side. The bugs wouldn't always be there and it would lessen your charging system load too. ....

As a commercial landscaper with several Kubota's, we had the same problem with L3450's with belly mount decks. Our solution was to mount a small light designed for the box of a pickup truck (outside courtesy/cargo light) on each side of the tractor, directly above each front wheel. These are bright enough to gently light each side of the deck, the tire itself, and a few feet to the front, killing the shadow between machine and where the headlights hit the ground. They are not so bright that the glare or power consumtion is a problem. Good luck. ....

Where are the best place to mount aux. lights for loader work and mowing on a kubota L2500. My front head lights do very little. ....

I thought I was the only one who mowed in the dark, have not had that problem this year. It sure is a pain with no side lights though, I may just try those side low wattage truck bed lights sounds like just the ticket. But since I am lazy, let me know if one of you have tried it before I get all bothered in work! :) ....
